Is paranormal investigating a popular place too much for the spirits?
Watched the latest episode of Dead Files TV paranormal show. Todd Wolfe of Wolfe Manor in Clovis CA was the *star* of this episode.
Basically Amy Allen (the show’s medium) told him that he’s HURTING and ANGERING all the spirit there by disrespectfully having so many paranormal groups in, by allowing them to run amok, shout at spirits, hold séances. She clearly explained more than the average paranormal investigator thinks about: at some point, the spirits get TIRED of all the poking and prodding.
Todd Wolfe’s reply: he intends to convert it (I’ve heard this since I talked to him in 2008!) into a ‘haunted hotel’ and advertise that it is. In other words, it seems that Todd is only concerned about the 15 minutes of fame and the $$$$.
So, do we boycott Wolfe Manor and get the word out? Or do we at least do a quick self-check about our investigative style?
I have seen Todd *star* on other TV paranormal shows. I think it was Zak, Nick, and Aaron from Ghost Adventures that went there a couple of years ago. Todd already knows what is there and has been charging groups for a long time to have a few hours to investigate. My group almost went in November 2008 because he personally told me, “I’ll be renovating after that time.” We didn’t make it up there in time and put Wolfe Manor aside in our minds.
So what makes Mr. Wolfe either contact the Dead Files show, or agree if they contacted him to have Amy Allen and crew do their walk-through and analysis of his place? He should KNOW the answer already. What I think he did not expect was to be told that he had overdone it – he had allowed way too many paranormal groups in; that there is a limit.
Amy warned him that the fed-up spirits are now more dangerous and aggressive. They no longer want the living to bother them with questions. They are in a realm where there is pain, confusion, and sadness already. In other words: they already have enough problems they are trying to deal with on the other side. No living person has helped them, so stop bugging them.
Which brings me to my main point – how much is too much? As investigators, we thrill at the chance to get access to places we’ve heard about. Here in southern California, teams often compare Queen Mary (a docked ship) experiences, never once considering that we were being disrespectful to any possible ‘miserable state’ a spirit might have been in. Most of us were humble and courteous, a few teams may have been provoking (unprofessional!), but all in all, we were not aware of any time limit had been set. We assume that all spirits are fully accessible until they cross over to their next journey. If you think about it, we almost viewed them as completely non-human: no ability to hurt, no ability to be caused any more confusion. We, the living, could not make or break the dead. We could not influence their status or stability.
But Amy Allen says otherwise. Just as we can affect living people emotionally and spiritually – so can we affect the deceased.
As a paranormal investigator, I have to admit (and give Todd the benefit of the doubt) that I also had no idea there is a limit. But it wakes me up and makes me think – how about you?

Hi, just wanted to tell you, I loved this article.
It was helpful. Keep on posting!
The source of this particular blog is us – Cal~Para; we wrote this. As for Amy Allen being a reliable source… we realize TV is hyped and edited for “entertainment purposes”, but the point of this article is – what if her concept is correct? She doesn’t need to be reliable to be accurate. :)
so good to see someone with the same views as me. I’ve been interested in the paranormal for years due to personal experiences, and I used to present a paranormal radio show, but I have never “ghost hunted”, my only interest is to help spirits, I have zero respect for anyone who makes money from the dead (other than coroners and funeral parlors), and uses the dead for entertainment. I’m glad karma finally caught up with that dick, I hope it got demolished and but most of all I hope the spirits were helped to move on.
Unfortunately, he is currently selling remnants from the location on EBay. It reminds us of the folklore about that place in Hawaii where they warn you to NOT take a rock home. Pele’s curse says that any visitor who takes rock or sand away from the Hawaii islands will suffer bad luck until the native Hawaiian elements are returned. Just like antique stores, spirits might attach themselves to something from Wolfe Manor. Wouldn’t that be a surprise for the unsuspecting buyer! ;)
I pay a quick visit daily a few sites and information sites to read posts, however this web site provides
quality based writing.
I believe weblogs are supposed to promote totally free speech and they also permit individuals to be open!
well i agree that in the beginning he had no idea but to be honest after awhile we get tired of being bugged so i believe the dead get tired of it also he has had both ghost hunters and ghost adventures in the place. i think that Amy gave him a wake up call so i think it would be messed up if he doesn’t follow her advise and let the dead lay at rest in peace. i think i would for my safety and the teams safety stay way from Wolfe manor and out of respect for the spirits.
Glen Tavern Inn in CA was recently on Dead Files. The client claimed they were concerned about the spirits bothering guests. The client ALSO promotes many paranormal teams to have events and investigations there. It’s a mixed signal. Do you want help or want dollars? :)
it’s up for sale…
A few Para friends are still going there.
It seems to be a ‘Hey! Guess where I got to go’ mode of thinking. I’d love to have gone BEFORE it was suggested that this location in particular had spirits that were fed up and affected by all the investigating!
Well I think Todd is acting like a total d*ck, disrespecting the dead and is part of his own wolfe manor crew (youtube search his stuff, it’s just like that one dude who was on GH who claims he’s is being haunted by sharon tate et al), trying to get more publicity by getting on The Dead files. I have seen his own footage of him investigating wolfe manor (how egocentric to call this place after himself, owning and claiming spirits who live there) and “demanding the spirits to talk to him because he owns the place”. If I were a spirit I would give him a good ass whooping. He knows perfectly well what he is doing, but I think he doesn’t give a sh#t about the other side. He is in it for the thrills, and satisfying his own ego. This makes me sad, and quite frankly a little angry. There will come a time, and maybe this is after he passes on himself where he will understand the damage he has done.
We also notice the people that show up repeatedly on paranormal TV shows. While it’s fascinating or entertaining to many (which is what the studio strives for, believe it!), the closer you live to these actual people, the more you begin to question their motives. We’d hate to think in the end it was all for $$$$ and less for advancing paranormal research.
Yeah.. I understand this totally.. That’s why I kinda only want to watch shows that do house investigations only. Like The Dead Files, since EVERY paranormal team has been on EVERY historical site that has ever been claimed to be haunted. It’s unhelpful to the dead that linger there. Instead of passing them on peacefully and actually giving them support we are only in it for the *proof* (as audience and perhaps most paranormal teams). But these are people, spirits, souls…. I can’t stand it when a paranormal team investigates and tells the spirits that they’re there to help, because in the end.. the spirit is still stuck there when the team leaves. I have been having weird dreams lately moving spirits on in my dream, last night I went to a house with among other stuff some poltergeist activity and Amy Allan was there holding my hand while moving on spirits.. that was weird.. first time though that there was someone there to hold my hand but it was a pretty darn scary house, with pretty scary spirit activity.. lol it could just be a dream, or it could represent the fact that I really would like to see more people into helping out than to be in it for the thrills or to collect proof.
Love,
Deborah (yaeli)
This situation goes even deeper than what was aired on the Dead Files. Todd is a property developer and did not know the manor was haunted when he bought the place. It needed (and still does) needs major renovations to be brought up to code. There were also 3 buildings on the property and a gate/stone fence that needed to be removed: the assylum, a 3bdr house and a garage. Major renovations + major demo/removal = $$$$$$$. Todd had the best of intentions turning the place into a haloween attraction, and put the money into the demo/renovation. I truly believe he did not understand what he was doing to these spirits having so many teams come in over and over and over. He was and is trying to create a livelihood and legacy for his son. Amy Allen portrayed him as a money-hungry attention seeker which I couldn’t be further from the truth. I don’t blame her for coming to this conclusion based on the state of the manor and the spirits there, but I also don’t blame him for the decisions he’s made. I’m pretty sure that before Amy, nobody had really told him how messed up the place truly is and how he was making it worse (there have been no investigations or haloween attractions for years). He is in the process of renovating into a hotel, but the city wants it demolished. He is kind of stuck. He has put his entire life into this project. If he suceeds with renovations without crossing over the spirits, the spirits will definately lash out at the living; if the house is demolished, he is loses his life project. I just really hope Todd takes Amy’s advise and gets rid of the negative spirits and works with the rest. I don’t want to see him fail at this project but I also don’t want to see these spirits being tormented after death. I think his only option is to cleanse the house and continue renovations. I think this place will always have echoes of the past but these spirits need to be laid to rest.
We wish Todd, and all owners of haunted ‘attractions’, success as supporters of historical locations. Our concern was to wake up the general public about the possibility of “badgering” spirits – that there may be a limit to how many paranormal investigations should take place at any given location. :)
Is Amy Allen 100 % sure that spirits do not lie? Didn’t she get paid to give her opinion of Wolfe Manor . Why is her word golden?
Good points to think about Pamela!! Spirits have lied to us before and I’m sure – many others. Amy gets paid to give her impression of wherever she goes (of course), but that doesn’t mean it sways an opinion. As for her word being ‘golden’… Our group is fairly close to Wolfe Manor so we hear a lot of things that the nation does not. It is, in fact, over-investigated. We were not calling attention to the fact that it was Amy that said these things; as much as the POSSIBILITY that locations can be inundated with paranormal researchers – and that it might cause issues for the deceased. Simply something to THINK about. :)
Recently, I learned more about a particular ArchAngel that supposedly can help spirits cross over. Interestingly, we called for him at a home investigation and two of us actually measured the energy shift in the room with our equipment. One of us caught an EVP of him speaking? Wouldn’t it be cool if he actually helps? :)
I know I would like more information on this for sure. If we CAN help them move on, I’d love to do that. I have been thinking a lot about this subject lately…So curious as to this subject. Maybe we don’t pray for our dead like we should.
Ginger, many cultures have many techniques that they use. What it all boils down to is: what we believe in strongly seems to have influence. :)
